Mesothelioma is a type of lung cancer in which cancer cells acquire mesothelium and grow in a controlled United Nations. The mesothelium is a membrane that covers the guards of the lungs, heart and abdominal organs. These two layers and between the two layers, cells produce a serum that allows the relative mobility of the organs and their protection against impact and shaking in their repective cavities. The mesothelium that covers the lungs is called mesothelioma pleural mesothelium of this cancer is pleural mesothelioma.
This is the most common type of mesothelioma is caused by exposure to article ACM. Pleural mesothelioma can occur either as an immediate response to such exposure, or several years can elapse between exposure and onset of pleural mesothelioma. The symptoms of this weakness may be chronic, painful swallowing, severe coughing pain, lower back, chest pain, sudden weight loss and difficulty breathing. Very often, pleural mesothelioma can be detected without the presence of symptoms as well, either due to a tumor or detected during routine check-up.
In the detection and treatment of pleural mesothelioma, an X-ray or CT scan and bronchoscopy should begin the procedure. Biopsy is also needed in which a sample of the affected tissue is surgically removed and tested. Although unfortunately there is no permanent cure for pleural mesothelioma, once detected, can be treated with chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, photodynamic therapy, gene therapy, immunotherapy, and other drugs that help reduce pain. The survival time for patients who were detected at pleural mesothelioma depends on the severity of it, or the stage it has reached. The average survival time is one year, although patients have also been living for five or ten years with good treatment.
Malignant mesothelioma is used to refer to a type of cancer of the mesothelium. These are the serous membranes that cover and protect vital organs like heart, lungs and abdomen and prevent damage from abrasion or other damage during daily activities such as pumping heart or breathing. Malignant mesothelioma can be of three types, namely, peritoneal (mesothelioma, cancer of the membrane surrounding the abdomen), pericardial mesothelioma (cancer of the membrane that surrounds the heart) and pleural mesothelioma (cancer of the membrane surrounding the lungs).
All types of mesothelioma are assumed to be malignant or cancerous. They usually begin as a tumor in a specific area and then spread rapidly to affect the surrounding cells and tissues. Exposure to asbestos is the most common cause of this disease and although there is no permanent cure for malignant mesothelioma, treatment and survival rate depends the specific type of disease.
Thus, mesothelioma diagnosis considers the immediate attention and one must go to a doctor for the recommendation on appropriate measures for prognosis as the delay will only cause more damage. Malignant mesothelioma is diagnosed malignant if not only in his last stages therefore should not be neglected.
