Mesothelioma incidence is similar between the asbestosis and silicosis?
Thanks K, I was not sure where to go. Anreuro, I heard this last time, with the burning of rice fields in central Ca, I heard that the problem was ultimately proved to be the release of silicon, oxidized forms, in the atmosphere, Bagasosis (sp?).
Hopefully, answers this
Spreedog Q. Maybe he (or someone else) will have a much better response. But, I will give this a shot … I found a 1997 in the cohorts of asbestos sprayers and silicosis patients were followed for cancer incidence. Total cancer lung cancer and mesothelioma, were dependent variables and criterion (<-not familiar with the statistics used), from what I saw. I realize This research is a bit outdated. There is no control group, but it looks like a report on the incidence, but even so, do not control much to attribute the results isolates effects. Anyway, from what I read, standardized incidence rates indicated that asbestos sprayers had a significantly higher incidence in developing mesothelioma. Patients with silicosis were only significantly higher incidence rates for all sites (ie, the total risk of cancer). Check out the abstract for you: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9131223?ordinalpos=2&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum Interesting little bit to do with silicosis and asbestos-related diseases. More recent, but not entirely relevant to your Q: Apparently, disease, silicosis asbestos-related and not only differ in their causal materials (obviously, actually), but also in terms of complications, autoimmune disorders is silicosis and common tumors in asbestos-related diseases. Asbestos-related disease patients also Show overpresentation restricted TCR-VBET without clonal expansion, while patients with silicosis overpresentation reveal important TCR-VBET 7.2. Basically, it can be concluded here that there superantigenic effects associated with asbestos and deregulation of autoimmunity-inducing effects of silica. I include these bits mentioned, for the sake of interest, really, but maybe you can pick up something related to your reasoning / history to do with asking the Q. This is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17166401?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez relevant summary. Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum EDIT: Then scroll down to the chart, entitled "asbestosis CDC vs. silicosis deaths "associated with" Annex 1 ". There is a very clear chart. Molestos. But quick skim, it looks like a comparison of individuals with asbestosis or silicosis is terminated due to malignant mesothelioma from 1980 to 2002. It seems that asbestosis increased and greater murderer (?): Http: / / www.actuary.org/pdf/casualty/asbestos_feb06.pdf
